Look, its a done deal so get over it! We are in the BIG leagues now, the big east and the not so big west. If you dont like that, tough! We have to roll with this and take over those gyms. Basketball will be fine, kids dont come to SDSU because they wanna play in the mountain west its because of our style of play, arena, fans, and our COACH! We didnt lose any of that with this deal. Financially we will make more money in the big east and save money in travel in the big west. As long as we take care of bizness in basketball we should be a powerhouse in that conference and do to the big west what the zags did for the wcc. Basketball is different in that there is a tourney and all we have to do is get in and we can take it from there. Remember back in UNLVs glory days they played in a crap conference too, big west, and won a national championship and were a powerhouse! We will be the same, we OWN the west now, we have beaten arizona, usc, cal, gonzaga, etc all in the past two years. Kids notice when ur program is legit and we have the best fans, coach, and program west of the rio grande! Okay, fine. You may have made me a little more optimistic. My main worry for football now is that Hillman stays till his senior year, I'd love to see him play in the Big East. He won't. His junior year is another issue

The big west tourney is in anaheim at the pond...used to be at the anaheim convention center. At least it's close. Easy travel trip. If I understand correctly that means we get two more Vegas weekends, this year and next. 21st Birthday in Vegas during the last Aztecs MW tournament, yah that sounds awesome.

What do you mean, backing out of the new deal with the Big East and Big West? This is the best thing to happen to SDSU since Cox Arena openned!!!! I realize that SDSU's new ethusiasm results from a growing and improving Mens Basketball program, but SDSU current location was selected because of the natural revene that became Aztec Bowl. It was our on 5000 seat on-campus stadium!!! Too bad that our football success out paced our facilities. the Aztecs used to draw over 35,000 for every game at the Q...before it was known as the Q.
I wish you would listen to some of the radio interviews. Coach Fisher has endorsed the change and is looking forwad to playing a more west coast conference schedule, with the opportunity to be on ESPN several times a year. He also gets to schedule some Big East games in the non-conference part of the schedule. He is looking forward.
While this entire conference re-alignment is based on increasing the revenue from football with the new TV contracts being signed this next year, our basketball program should benefit from an Athletic Department with enough funds to make things happen. It looks like we can now schedule a strong non-confernce schedule, and have a great chance to win the Big West for many years, making it easier for us to get national rankings and good seatings in the NCAA Tournament. We need to embrace this new Big East & Big West conference alignment. This is great positioning for SDSU. But the only way it will work is that the Aztecs keep winning in football and basketball, and start winning in baseball, softball and the other minor sports.
