Stewart Mandel of SI on twitter: "Illegal spinning??? Did I hear that right?" and then "Semi clarification ... The penalty was "illegal stemming." It's for trying to get the opponent to jump early. Still had never heard it." Rocky Long referred to it as a "phantom penalty"

Comsidering that I already made a "that was illegal spinning"/(backside) "WTF is illegal spinning?" sign, I'm a little disappointed to find out the actual terminology for this call that hasn't been called since the Eisenhower administration is "stemming" and not spinning

A good amount of the football players (as you know) go to the games and while you may think it's funny they probably wouldn't like it. The game is over and they want to move on, not dwell on some archaic football penalty in the back of the rulebook that is never called.

As pissed off as I am still about that call we have to move on. It was still pretty damn impressive to go to back to back bowl games considering our anemic football history. The team has turned a corner and the program has been revived and has a bright future. Its time to look forward to Matt Morin and trying to get Ronnie back for one last run at the Heisman.

I actually totally disagree with Tec and SHOWlan.
I think a "WTF is stemming" sign (or something similar) tells the football seniors: "I know there weren't many of us who made the trip to New Orleans, but we were all watching at home and we're all just as pissed off as you are. We got your back. We care about your games."
I probably won't make a sign, but if anyone else wants to I think it works.

I was going to bring the sign to the charger game but I forgot, btw ravens d-line was stemming all game. Ill probably leave the sign at home with that reaction, no biggy, it was a whopping 5 minutes of effort
