What would it take to banner up the college avenue bridge (over interstate 8 by campus). Announcing the beginning of Aztec Football to the community/school/alum/fans etc...?
In the past students would hike up cowles mtn and paint a giant "S" representing San Diego State . Fast forward today: Enviro nazi would never let us do this today but decorating the College Ave bridge with SDSU banners/flags etc. "Beat Washington!' would be very cool IMO. Students/alum/fans to participate at grassroot level for opening week of FOOTBALL!!! GO Aztecs!!!
I'm sure the city would be fine as long as we made sure it was cleaned up at the end of the week after the game.

Good idea.
But Viejas' electric billboard (marquee?) does it as well. And is way less expensive. And is visible at night.

True. No doubt the billboard works best but was really looking for a way fans can get involved that is out of the norm. But yeah your right.
I love and respect the tradition(s) coach Hoke and Sipe instilled back into the program on game day. ie Warrior Walk, team singing the Fight Song, AFL, etc... Can't wait for the season to begin!

I didn't mean to come off as shutting down your idea. Creativity is what the show thrives on. And that idea is a great idea. Maybe put the banner over the suspension bridge that goes over college?

Maybe put the banner over the suspension bridge that goes over college? ^^^This is probably a better idea. Standing on a freeway overpass and trying to fasten a banner is a very efficient way of getting attention from the CHP and probably receiving a ticket. |

I hear ya but reason i suggested the bridge over the freeway is 1. mass exposure to those on AND off campus. 2.More of a students w/community thang. not necessarily an exclusive SHOW effort but combined w/alum and fans to see if it would grow. Free for those that want to pin up handmade signs, parents of players, etc... (just brainstorming here.) note**every election, signs are posted on various bridges around town without penalty. As long as we clean up and take them down after game day, i don't forsee an issue with chp or the city. (our current mayor is an alum) ;D Also note** i'm not at all recommending anything dangerous of course as most signs are posted on the inside fence and visible from the drivers on the freeway. If it were to catch on like i envision, on the first week of future seasons, the team bus can drive down college blvd rather than Montezuma rd to airport/hotel and see all the support to VICTORY. We see radio stations do it all the time, given this banner would much larger than those tiny z90 ones. This sounds like a good idea if we can find some comfort in not getting in trouble for doing it. (yay for bringing dead threads back to life)
